What can I help with?
OCD (obssessive compulsive disorder), anxiety, stress, tics, couples, depression, PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), low self esteem (or sometimes referred to as lack of confidence), social anxiety (formerly known as social phobia), phobias (including blood phobia), panic (panic attacks and panic disorder), GAD (generalised anxiety disorder), anger and health anxiety. I can also help with social skills training for those with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. I run a smoking cessation course and can also help with sleep difficulties. As I deliver therapy via skype or phone your location is not a barrier.
I have much experience of working with adults but also specialise in working with children and teenagers. I have a particular interest in anxiety disorders such as OCD.

I am a fully accredited and qualified Cognitive (CBT) Psychotherapist. I offer a service that I would be happy for my own loved ones to attend. I believe in respect, integrity, ethics, honesty and dignity. I offer evidence based therapy, recommended by NICE that really works. I also believe that there is a reason for everything and once that reason is understood then anything is possible. Therapy finds that reason that opens the door for you to achieve your potential.
CBT is a great therapy that I feel very passionate about. There are also other great therapies that can be used either in addition to or instead of CBT that I have trained in. These are solution focussed therapy, mentalization, mindfulness, family therapy, NVR programes. You will find more detailed information about these within the therapy pages on this website.
I am excited to announce that I am about to start mindfulness groups. This will be an 8 week programme. Keep checking back for dates. You will be able to sign up for these online.
Things to consider when choosing a therapist:
I think that when people are faced with choosing a therapist it is immensely confusing. Everyone is offering something different and have different professional backgrounds. What I offer are evidence based therapies. Not only evidenced by extensive research (and recommended to the NHS via NICE) but also by over 10 years of my own clinical experience of seeing what really helps people.
Another concern is the truth that anyone can set themselves up and call themselves a therapist. When selecting a therapist make sure that they are registered with an accrediting body. For Cognitive Behaviour Therapy the only accrediting body is the BABCP. BABCP acreditation ensures that the therapist has a professional core training (mental health nurse, OT, psychologist etc) and has then gone to specialise in CBT and has trained to a high standard within an approved and accredited university. It also means that they are supervised and engage in continuing professional development. Some mental health facts:
One in ten children between the ages of one and 15 has a mental health disorder (The Office for National Statistics). A quarter of the adult UK population will experience a mental health problem during any one year (Mental Health Foundation). That's 1 in 4 people.
I believe that therapy should be an enriching and rewarding experience that you walk away from at the end feeling that you have acheived your goals. I think that Mahatma Gandi sums it up perfectly:
"Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony"
At the end of the day we all want to feel happy and content. And that is my goal as a therapist to guide you to that place.
